Socialism and Communism are distinctly different. Socialism is the equal allocation of goods and services among a society, where everyone shares the benignant prosperity of an industrialized economy. Interestingly, Democracy has been stated by various political philosophers, including Karl Marx : “Democracy is the road to socialism,” which ultimately guides us into our current ‘Welfare Liberal’ situation. Socialism is a liberal economic based ideal, a decentralized power structure, power to the commonwealth and proletariat’s. Oddly, it is said that Communism was never envisioned to culminate beyond a local structure, the masses ( hundreds of millions ) would never be appeased and would become inefficient.

Communism is a political system, rather than an economic system (socialism). In a decentralized framework of communism, it is more liberal than conservative, but in a centralized structure, it promotes a modern ideal of conservatism. Just like in today’s modern society, fewer and fewer people have any influence in government control. In a broad interpretation Communists are related to Socialism as Republicans are related to Conservatism. The Liberal ideology is the promotion of liberty and power to the masses, similar to the original ideal of socialism, which leads from Democracy. But oddly, democracy in America is more government control, and more services, rather than power to the people.

Originally Communism was written by Engels by Marx’s directive. Scientific Socialism has little to do with Marx, as Engels expanded on the ideology, singularly, rather than reinforcing it. Communism has been perpetually increasing, to the detriment of both Engels and Marx’s original assertion of the ideology. Marx initially believed that the proletariat’s would overthrow the oppressive government through an inevitable and violent revolution. However, it was quite contrasting when in 1917, Lenin and the Bolsheviks overthrew Russia and established a centralized power regime, not of the people, but of a particular group, a party that was rather prohibitive.

Lenin had murdered over 259,000 party members after abandoning Socialism, which further centralized Lenin’s power. This eventually lead to the coined term “Marxist – Leninism” and the indirect “Stalinism” which has further disgraced the original pioneers of the ideology. There has never been a true decentralized Marxist political establishment to ever rise and maintain stability. Furthermore, Centralization of Government is hypocritically demonized in America. We view China as an evil dictatorial state that should be abolished, it’s true their people have very little control in that corrupt society. But hypocritically, our government is becoming more centralized every year. With the ever increasing negligence of the Constitution and the consolidation of the Presidents Power, we are definitely becoming a Communistic country.

Personally, I view Communism / Socialism as a near perfect ideology, if in the right hands, and vindicated by the people. Although, consolidation of power will always come into play with a monetary system, there’s always some social stratification in society. The only possible way I view a socialistic / communistic regime to actually benefit society, would be the liberation of the work force through technological advancement. In lieu of contracting society, let it be favorable and to evolve, rather than the promotion of scarcity and planned obsolescence, predicated upon the laws of supply and demand. We view war, animosity, and envy as human nature, I believe it is human conditioning based upon environment. We are not built to battle, we are created to actualize ideas and creativity. War and competition is a symptom of scarcity. Instead of working invariably insignificant jobs, we can liberate ourselves from these authoritarian establishments, and focus on the development of our mind : “The Greatest Tool Available.”

Interestingly, I have been assessed by a facebook application, for a representational anarchist ideology. My various friends within facebook have also attended the quiz relations, and in regard, they have established the same resolution. According to this ‘facebook app,’ I’m regarded as an anarcho-communist, and peculiarly, this ideology is ostensibly similar to the intrinsically transcendental Zeitgeist Movement. The movement, which I strongly predicate as an unparalleled deviance of a ‘normative’ ideology, is essentially a utopian society with inextricable ethics that propagates equality through a monetary-less system, devoid of any enforced labor in consequence to perpetual technological advancement.

Initially, you may think: “What similarities do anarcho communism and a resource based economy share?” Well, the complete theoretical purpose of the resource based economy is to liberate the people from mindless, linear, and arduous labor. Laborious activities such as the required commonplace factory worker are usually paid minimum wage, severe work hours, in a competitive and self demoralizing, harsh working environment. These particular events are a disservice to that individual, ultimately generating resentment for community and relations to the state, amidst a growing depression, and the traditional “inflation” in society. Beyond the individual’s perspective, particular environmental traditions are affirmed in today’s society, such as fossil fuels, inefficient energy production, and planned obsolescence.

Anarchism promotes the destabilization and gradual removal of government control in all aspects of society. Moreover, Anarchists believe that government control advocates corrupt and ill-behavior among greedy and malevolent politicians. It is often stated that there is no single determination of the ideology.

Communist’s believe that social stratification is a detriment and pernicious to complete society. They collectively want to abolish capitalism and the inextricably evil symptoms it harbors. Furthermore, they believe Capitalism breeds competition and a hierarchy of social class, therefore countries wellbeing is compromised via despotism and corruption. Interestingly, there have been many attempted utopian societies under communist ideologies. Particularly, Charles Fourier and Robert Owen, they had developed the first utopian community called ‘New Harmony,’ in the 1800’s.

Anarcho Communism (libertarian communism) is essentially a divergence, a fundamental hybrid ideology. To begin with, it harbors both the destabilization of the established state, as well as the decentralized promotion of the dictatorship of the proletariats, which creates various union forces for the good of society. Just like in communism, it propagates socialistic industries and institutions, thus eliminating private property among individuals. Goods are distributed according to the physical needs of the individual, rather than according to labor. Moreover, Anarchist communists recognize money as fundamentally quantitative in nature, rather than qualitative. They believe production should be a qualitative matter, and that consumption and distribution should be self-determined by each individual without arbitrary value assigned to labor, goods and services by others. Peter Kropoktin was one of the most prolific dignitaries during the development of this ideology, which continues to perpetually expand.

Initially our government was non-interventionists that kept unbiased opinions on other opposing ideologies and political regimes. The neo-con standard is apparently arrogant and pretentious. Imposing to other countries that “Democracy” is the only way is not only haughty but inextricably incorrect. After all, ethics and morality are all relative based on environment. Therefore, the countless wars that have resulted in domestic and foreign casualties culminate to what’s “just” among the normative ideals of the American people. Our country views war as patriotic, as a standard in society, however, war is just another form of unspecified genocide to impose a certain restriction or allegedly ‘liberate’ a society.

Neo-Conservatives are generally more oriented on the right side, although the term neo(new), which is somewhat oxymoronic because it doesn’t pertain to traditional views. Despite the multi-faceted diversity which contains both liberal and traditionalist ideals, it is quite profound to put neo and conservative in the same ideology. Generally speaking, they are very strong liberals for freedom from government control, unless necessary for the common benefits of society. They view catastrophes such as the holocaust as a veritable source of their ideology, essentially justifying their reasoning. However, I do agree government intervention is necessary during mass genocide of any sort, it is particularly apparent that they’re using tragedies to levy the people and persuade enthusiastic followers. Domestically, Neo-Conservatives favor a large defense budget, and the development of lower taxes, with the exception of benefits for foreign reformation.

The neo-conservative ideology has drastically influenced our position in both foreign and domestic affairs in modern society. From Vietnam to the Gulf War to Iraq, the parallels continue to escalate our interventionist disposition. Particular members, even former presidents have stated their political views, which are neo-conservative based.

“corruption of the national mission, combined with the myth that peace is normal, produces a solvent strong enough to dissolve the strength of our armed forces and the integrity of our political and military leaders”

- Bill Clinton

That statement has inexorably stated that war is natural, and thoughts of peace are a detriment to society. Some major proponents of neo-conservatives are Dick Cheney (Former Vice President), George W. Bush (Former President), Donald Rumsfeld(Pentagon Chief), and lastly the pioneer of the ideology William Kristol. All of these powerful individuals have shaped and further informed the public on this reputable ideology, it will continue to shape our foreign policies. We are now considered the world mediator, which further threatens our national security against foreign threats. I personally promote a noninterventionist ideal, and imposing war for liberty is considered ‘political genocide.’

Burkean Conservatism is essentially a transcendent view on society, to sustain and evolve upon the community, rather than drastically augment it. Edmund believed in upholding the natural laws and perpetuating the society’s normality of ethics, beliefs, and values. His philosophy is similar to a contemporary version of traditionalism, which promotes the preservation of liberty and the sustenance of morality. Fundamentally, Burkean’s philosophical beliefs are relative, according to social, economic, and political dispositions. Moreover, Edmund not only believed in the affirmation and preservation of culture, religion, and nature, he believed in gradual progression that contained benefits to society as a whole.

Edmund Burke promoted natural laws and natural aristocracy. He believed that society’s integrity should be held in the hands of responsible and educated individuals, rather than the ignorant majority. Although, according to Natural Aristocracy, it has greater equality than Hereditary Aristocracy, which advocates royalty in government. During his era, social stratification was incontrovertible, therefore his ideology is to secure and aid the social structure, although with modern traditionalism, this would be dis-commended. Furthermore, this commonly viewed ideology of “traditonal conservatism” is relevant to society, rather than a perpetual structure.

I’m not a conservative by any means, if I were to be put into a ideology, it would have to be communism. I believe social, political, and economic conditions fundamentally flaw human beings. There is no determined human nature. Scarcity and competition promote stealing, ignorance, hatred, and indoctrination to become an individual within a group. Essentially, the commonly quoted “Money is the root of all evil,” is how I view society. If a bum doesn’t have money, he is forced to steal, if that uneducated man is sent to prison, it promotes even more unethical behavior by putting them in the same corrupt environment. Competition advocates scarcity, therefore scarcity promotes corruption, and corruption is a moral perversion in society. We have the means and ability to acquire enough resources for everyone, but our monetary system ensnares us from persistent advancement.

Liberalism has a general ideal of freedom and individual liberty, the regulation of government policy in certain dispositions, and has conceptual ideas on social and economic aspects of society. There is a common theme between all ideologies of ‘liberalism’ that involves freedom and liberty among individuals. Neo-Classical liberalism believes that the government’s only policy should be to limit force and fraud among the people of society, while Welfare liberalism promotes the regulation of competition in the economy to cure social and economic ailments. Liberalism is diverse among ideologies because of the considerably hybrid ideals it advocates, such as the Neo Classical: complementary to capitalism, and Welfare: complementary to socialism. I can see the advance and advocacy among political groups in the modern era (republican, democrat, libertarian, green). It is obvious that both the republicans and the democrats favor a libertarian ideology, however, not distinct, but within common ground. I don’t believe it is accurate to express the political ideologies in america with this duality of “left” and “right” with republican and democrat, because there are many other aspects of an ideology and political stance to consider.

President Obama is a supporter of Welfare Liberalism. Personally, I support a neo-classical disposition, because I believe the government shouldn’t have any agenda in regulating businesses in an economy. It is obvious that the government interferes with the economic industries by borrowing trillions from the federal reserve to “stimulate” the economy, or better yet to bail out General Motors. Another example of a Welfare Liberalism ideal, is the “Cash for Clunkers,” which is a federal program that promotes people to buy cleaner and efficient cars, by giving price compensations for trading in your vehicle. It is obvious that the government is regulating and interfering with the economy to promote the wellfare of society. Obama’s new healthcare system is also another advancement of a Wellfare system, by providing the proletariats with a nationalized healthcare plan. It is seemingly difficult to understand our economy when it is inherently inflationary, it is impossible to get out of debt in our current system, thus the American People must work harder ever year to achieve their normal economic status.

According to Terrence Ball’s book, and many famous political philosophers, Liberalism is the the ideal of freedom, to promote individual liberty and free thought in an equal society. I wholeheartedly agree with this definition of liberalism, it reflects my ideology. The regulation of government actions and the promotion of civil liberty, essentially equality for all, regardless of ethnicity, religion, education, gender, and wealth. Liberalism conceptually views human nature as competitive and self-interested, virtues a communist would perceive as faults. Liberty is key to liberalism, fundamentally taking “big brother” out of the picture, only needing the government for public services, protection of rights, and security, giving all rights to the individual as long as it doesn’t infringe upon others liberty or security. Personally, I believe ‘The Harm Principle,’ by John Stuart Mills is a perfect demonstration of liberal views and what liberalism features culminate to.

While using the figure on page 47, liberals(agent) individual liberties(goal) has a consistent element of oppositions, such as their own freedom, and government regulation. Liberalism’s freedom leads to regulation, because the majority of people who vote and communicate with the politicians set forth regulations which in most cases, limit a certain group or aspect of society. This is like the controversial debate over gun control laws, a liberal country would allow anyone to carry a gun, as long as it doesn’t threaten to harm anyone. Instead, our society limits people with permits and regulations.

Tolerance plays a huge role in a liberal ideology. One must respect other people’s beliefs, whether it is religion, morals, or a political stance. Without tolerance, there would be no liberal view, because tolerance promotes respect for other beliefs. If the government intruded upon someone elses rights, by forcing them to conform a certain way, liberalism would be non existant in that society. Conclusively, intolerance by the government or among a group of people, leads to the destruction of liberal views .

According to the textbook, there are three central concepts of democracy, which are Liberal, Social, and Peoples. The common theme between all of these variations is “power and rule by the majority.” All forms of government claim to have some conception of a democratic ideal. Democracy had originated in Athens and conclusively ended up to be a corrupt form of government. Controversially, many historical philosophers such as Plato and Aristotle argue that democracy leads to despotism and mediocrity. Promoters of one variation of democracy can easily identity flaws with others because of the vast moral differences the people have. However, some flaws within democracy are universal.

Liberal Democracy is the concept of our current form of government in ‘The United States,’ and is the form of government that is defined in most western democracies. It promotes individual liberty and free thought. The government’s responsibility is mainly to protect the rights of the majority and the minority equally. Liberties within this democracy include the right to free worship, free speech, and the right to own property. However, equality among political positions is based upon wealth and advertisement, which is conceptually inequality.

Social Democracy contains all the aspects of Liberal Democracy besides the equal distribution of wealth. You have all of the rights a liberal could advocate for, however, everyone is equal which promotes mediocrity. Social democracy contains aspects of socialism, and often criticizes the liberal democracy for the corruptive government. If a doctor makes the same amount of money a gas station attendant does, then what promotes education and the integrity of society? This form of government is often castigated for being similar to Communism.

A people’s democracy is a form of communism. The agenda of this political ideal is to promote the commonwealth, rather than the individual. It draws upon the original conception of a democracy, favoring the proletariats. Fundamentally, government control is order until the government feels it is ready for a classless society. Currently, the people in China are still in hope for a people’s democracy, but the communist party continues to insist upon a democratic dictatorship. In my opinion, a classless society is impossible; it is in human nature to strive for power and to be competitive.

An ideology is a group of ideas that modify people’s thoughts, beliefs, and actions. The thought of ideology involves relative ideas to the role of the government, society, morality, and nationality that establishes action. The contrasting elements of my definition of “ideology,” contain the thought that religion shapes our morals; therefore it radically structures our thoughts and ideals. Religion helps form morals, and morals shape our society, without them, regulations would be emphatically different. An example of religion controlling morals and thoughts are Islamic extremists. They are indoctrinated at birth and manipulated to believe a certain way, and in a specific religion, but so are we.

According to Karl Marx and his theory of ‘Social Reproduction,’ he believed that ideologies were based upon an economic base /superstructure of society that involved religions, the political system, and the legal system. The ruling class controls the society’s means of production, the superstructure, and ideologies. Karl Marx believed that the ruling class manipulated the ideologies of the alienated class to create ‘false consciousness.’ It is often rumored that Marx’s ideals on this subject draws too much significance from an economic position. In my opinion, his thoughts on ideologies are too biased and reflect upon his thoughts on class structure and communism.

The four functions of an ideology are: Explanatory, Evaluative, Orientative, and Programmatic. Explanatory is a function of questioning concepts of political, social, and economic conditions. Evaluative function is subjectively interpreting the moral conditions of society, essentially labeling things as ‘good,’ or ‘bad.’ Orientative function is a derivative of ones self, culturally, ethnically, socially, and even economically. Furthermore, the Programmic function is a function of the political system that affects social and general action in society. The framework is a basic guideline for understanding ideologies, but one must understand the ideals of the ideology before one can truly evaluate it.

Islamic Fundamentalism holds its roots in religion and faith. They tend to be apathetic towards revolution, disinterested in politics and economics, with a constant avoidance of western technology. On the other hand, communist China follows dedication and supreme loyalty. China cherishes the working class and the virtuously motivated. However, equality in both nations is comparable, to the distress of the Islamic woman, to the filthy and beaten Chinese peasant near the ’5×5′ hut he occupies.

I’m coming right out of high school and I’m looking for unbiased knowledge on the American political system. I keep up to date on news sites, generally all sites are biased in one way or another so I like to look at multiple websites. I’m into conspiracy theories and I like to question my thoughts and the governments actions. I consider everything a possibility and I like to keep an open mind. My friend recommended to me a documentary called ‘Zeitgeist,’ and that movie has essentially changed my life. It has promoted me to educate myself in political topics and to not trust what the media says.
